Bollington Skyline Enduro 2025
Bolly Skyline is a local enduro event based around Bollington, using trails and terrain that riders do not usually get the chance to ride. A big part of what makes it special is that many stages of the event take place on private land, generously permitted by local landowners for the weekend. It gives riders access to some properly interesting terrain, with natural tracks, steep sections and awkward lines that feel very different to a normal bike park or trail centre.
About
Bolly Skyline Enduro
Bolly Skyline is not just about the timed stages. The event revolves around a central hub where riders and spectators can hang around between the racing, with food, music and everything else adding to the weekend. It makes it feel more like a small MTB festival than just a race, but without losing the local, rider-led feel. There is still a competitive side to it, obviously, but the wider atmosphere is a big part of why it works. People are there to ride, race, watch, catch up and make a weekend of it, which makes the whole weekend feel like more than just the racing.
Enduros can be a bit different to shoot compared with a bike park or downhill race. Riders are spread out across several stages, and you do not always get chance to move around once things are underway. Once you are in position, you are largely committed to that area. I found a spot I was super happy with on practice day, so decided to make Stage 6 home for the weekend. It was a fun stage to shoot, with plenty of riders coming through, a good mix of pace and style, and enough going on in the track to get a decent set of images rather than every shot looking exactly the same.
Friday and Saturday definitely had a different feel in the photos. Friday felt a bit looser, with riders using practice to work things out, check lines and see how much pace they could carry. By Saturday, everything felt a bit more switched on. Some riders came through looking like they had the section fully dialled, others were keeping it tidy and trying not to throw time away, and a few were clearly hanging on a bit, which usually makes for the more interesting photos. That shift from practice-day looseness to race-day commitment gave the galleries a bit of variety, rather than it all feeling like the same shot repeated.
I have split the photos into two galleries, a set from Friday's practice and a set from Saturday's race. If you raced, have a look through and see if I caught you. Cheers to everyone who stopped for a chat over the weekend, and to everyone involved in putting the event together. Hopefully see you back there next year.
